Puya Raimondiis & Cerro Mateo
Arti, the owner of the hostel I’m staying at and sometimes working for, invited my Huaraz crew and me to join him on a climb to Cerro Mateo, a 5.150m mountain with glacier on top. It was my first climb within a rope team and lots of fun! A rather short climb as we started pretty high (at 5am), but challenging due to the ice and steepness. On the way back we got stopped by police: As we were six people in the car we had to pay the two officers their lunch: 10 Soles.
A few days before we saw some weird, huge flowers on a day trip: They only bloom once in their 100 years lifetime.
